These affordable J.T. Jet Bows, from J.R. Music Supply, are a remarkable value for the price. Both the carbon-fiber and the braided carbon-fiber models that Strings reviewed are lively, responsive, easy to control, and draw a big, clear, if not too complex, tone out of the instrument. All at an affordable price suited to students and adult beginners. Both of the violin bow models weighed exactly 60.7 grams and had remarkably close balance points, yet each felt and handled differently. The carbon-fiber model felt quick and light and hung in at the head, while the braided carbon-fiber model drew a smoother tone and felt a bit more weighted toward the frog. Both bows are straight with good-quality rehairs. Though they are priced for the student market, a professional might enjoy one as a spare bow.
